I concur. If he cannot remain in enough control of his faculties to recall what he has done or why, he cannot be allowed to serve in any capacity. The question remains, do we consider him gone rogue or simply mad? Either way, mercy has not been beneficial to anyone. Least of all him.
There are those who are going to protest handling this with a heavier hand. We might entertain the option of sending him away somewhere, but that poses several problems in itself.
What precipitated the incident? I know he can turn into a bloody berserker under the right circumstances, such as fighting Red Templars, but I can't imagine that's who he was directing his particular brand of reckless endangerment toward.
A mage who had been transferred to Kirkwall from Starkhaven recognized me in passing and slapped me.
[He understands why she did and doesn't debate it's deserved. But it was out of nowhere.]
Harimann rushed in to restrain her, which I do not fault him for. However when he was instructed to release her, he did so with far more force than the situation demanded. When I questioned him about it later, he had no recollection of his actions, nor what motivated them.
[Listen he is the last person ever who will debate whether Seekers getting slapped by mages is deserved or not.]
A familiar refrain from him. Was she injured? Does she ask for recompense?
I truly don't believe he has any recollection, and there are predictable times at which he loses all sense of self and self-preservation where he is more wild than anything else. It's an affliction of the mind rather than a willingness to become a berserker, but that's something even our best healers can do nothing for.
But we cannot simply exile him to cause problems out in the world.
Not injured. Though she might pursue litigation for my wife overfeeding her fruit tarts afterwards. [Was that a lame attempt at a joke?] The gossip train, however, has conflated it and added no small amount of embellishment in the retelling. By now, every bone in her body has been crushed, I'm certain.
I concur we cannot exile him. Nor do I feel executing him is justified. I would propose we have him struck from the Templars and made a ward of the Inquisition. I will- [siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh] -request to keep him on in a secretarial position so he does not want for employment. Unless his family asks for his return.
