[That actually gets Malcolm to sputter out a laugh, not expecting that addendum.] Right you are! And I don't think 'mayor' is even a proper term since there haven't been any kind of elections since he went into office, at least not according to the archives.

You go rest. You've had a long and busy night, and then you decided this was a good night to do...this. [That's not admonishment, that's fondness and a touch of concern.] I'll clean up here.
We can try a real one on...new years day, mabye? Grab lunch or something. Or cook together. That's supposed to be datelike. [ One last pat and he scrubs at his face, all that weariness coming to the fore. ]
Let's just say we can make lunch together, and I can try to teach you not to burn things. [Let's not say date. Let's not and say we didn't.] Maybe even some hangover food, that should be easy.
[ Okay how is he supposed to date Malcolm if Malcolm never wants to call anything they do dates? His smile goes a little tight, just a hair, before it's gone. He's fine. This is good. Baby steps. ]
