super condensed history of one lt cdr malcolm reed

Because the Star Trek wiki for the expanded universe (Memory Beta) is woefully...woeful with the Enterprise books, and because I don't consider every single book to be canon, I have attempted a small bullet point list of events and details of Malcolm's life as a history, where headcanon will be in italics and book canon is bolded

-born September 2nd 2122 in Leicester to Mary and Stuart Reed, joining older sister Madeline
-drowned by bullies at 13, causing his incurable phobia of drowning, nearly drowned the asshole right back at 15 until he decided space was the better option
-relationship with father dramatically deteriorated between 14 and leaving home right after graduating secondary school, immediately joining Starfleet and thus leaving for good ol' San Fran
-visited the Cochrane Research Facility on Sirius IV as a cadet; the reactor blew, and he watched those trapped within including fellow cadets die of radiation poisoning
-contacted to join 'the Bureau' (aka Section 31) as an ensign after spending some time gaining a name for himself on the good ship Rubicon; joined for the excitement, eventually resigned his post there two years later after not being comfortable with their methods basically he wanted to be James Bond but realized that isn't actually very fun but
-after getting back on the horse for a time on the good ship Tripoli, gaining a promotion, joined crew of NX-01 in early 2151 for adventure and fun round 2 electric boogaloo, despite knowing her captain was not the spit and polish type he's used to
-Memory Alpha takes care of everything from "Broken Bow" to "Terra Prime", and everything from this point on is from the books: The Good That Men Do, Kobayashi Maru, The Romulan War: Beneath the Raptor's Wing, and The Romulan War: To Brave the Storm, all of which aim to fix the travesty that was the finale "These Are the Voyages..."
-to keep Trip from throwing away his career, introduced him to Section 31, and helped fake his death so he could be a spy behind Romulan enemy lines
-assisted Shran in rescuing captured Aenar (by Orion slavers to be used for Romulan weapons)
-March 5,
2155: signing of the Coalition of Planets
-went on a secret joyride of a mission with T'Pol under Archer's nose to go rescue Trip's ass (they were successful and also got some valuable info to boot, you're welcome)
-leaving the Kobayashi Maru and all hands to be destroyed by Romulan-controlled Klingon ships so that the enemy didn't get their mitts on Earth's best ship in the fleet, to a lot of awful consequences for the crew, their relationships, and their reputation with the rest of the galaxy
-July 24, 2155: official start of the Earth-Romulan War
-March 8, 2156: unraveled a Romulan tactic used to undermine early warning sensor grids around Coalition worlds
-spring and summer 2156: Commodore Archer leading fleet into early Earth victories by liberating various planets and colonies from Romulan control
-promoted to lieutenant commander late 2156 or early 2157 during information gathering and goodwill missions of patrolling
-2157-2160: reversal of fortune, asses begin getting handed to Earth, few "victories" include massive loss of ships and life; Romulus begins retaking planets and colonies liberated years earlier, the full force of the Romulan fleet bearing down on Starfleet (alone, after their Coalition allies had abandoned ship years back)
-February 18, 2160: Trip Tucker officially (by Section 31) declared dead, KIA
-July 29,
2160: Battle of Cheron, Starfleet (and surprise last minute allies) victory over the Romulans, the surprise of Trip still being alive followed quickly by his potential actual death (it's a long story), and a near dead Enterprise needing a Vulcan tow back to Earth; though negotiations and the creation of the Neutral Zone have yet to occur, this is generally considered the pretty decisive end to the war and the canon point I'm bringing Malcolm from
