I live day to day, hoping we don't get our arses blown clear out of the sky or that the Captain won't go on some ludicrous mission on his own without any regard for my concerns. It's not that he ignores me completely or that he's an incompetent leader, but I've always thought him to lack a certain caution that I feel all captains really ought to have. I can't tell you the number of times my team and I have had to go in, guns blazing, to save him or any other member of this crew when I felt it could've been avoided with better protection.
But then, some of my concerns have fallen on deaf ears. And I've come to realize that a few of the ideas I've had to beef up security have been a touch...extreme. You wouldn't think them very extreme when you're out in uncharted space (uncharted by Humans, at least) and get randomly attacked by hostile aliens every other day.
I can't help but be concerned. It's my duty. I keep everyone safe. I live for the friends and comrades I have made, protecting them to the best of my ability whenever I can.
And maybe a slice of pineapple now and again.
